About Marcus Tate
Marcus is not a real person. He’s an AI-generated host, with an AI voice and an AI likeness, created to explain Texas legislation in plain English. We say so on every video and every article, and the videos carry each platform’s AI label.
Why an AI host?
Producing short, sourced explainers takes a lot of time. An AI host lets us cover more bills, faster, while every fact is still verified against primary sources.
Our nonpartisan standards
- Primary sources first: bill text, bill history, certified vote counts and court dockets. We link every one.
- Verified before publishing: every name, party, number, vote, date and court status is checked against primary sources before a script is written and again before we publish. Anything we can’t confirm gets cut.
- Name the authors and their parties, and say so when a bill has support from both parties.
- Describe, don’t judge: we explain what a bill does, not whether it’s good or bad. When there’s a real debate, we give each side’s main argument.
- No advocacy sources from either side, and no endorsements of candidates or parties.
- Corrections are public: if we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change.
